LBO Education

LBO are aware that music education is forever changing and endeavour to deliver exciting, innovative workshops that complement Government Music Curricula. The education scheme was piloted in the Spring 2007 at Old Palace School for Girls with great success (please see www.sitbonzo.com/breakbeat for show-reel). During the Autumn Term 2007, LBO worked with Bassline Circus and Camden Music Service to provide newly commissioned works that were performed at ETA, which celebrated the opening of a new Eurostar link at St Pancras. Through improvisation, composition, arrangement and performance workshops, children from Camden Music Service presented these new works alongside members of the London Breakbeat Orchestra at a live music, dance and acrobatics event at the heart of the new terminal. LBO will deliver it's first voice based project, HOLLA!, in 2009, working with young local residents to compose new and exciting works for contemporary vocal ensemble and orchestra

LBO aim to deliver bespoke education programmes which focus on composition and performance of contemporary orchestral and choral music which is heavily influenced by dance music genres. Performances usually take the form of an informal concert to family and friends, however, more formal performances can be arranged in consultation with the customer. Participants are usually aged between 11 and 18 and need not have had any formal music training.

The members of LBO have extensive experience in working with children of all ages. Many members teach privately and for music services in and around London as instrumental teachers, covering one-to-one tuition through to wider opportunities (whole class) teaching. All the animateurs have experience in leading and presenting workshops to a wide range of ages and abilities and have worked on projects that vary from the opening of the recently renovated Royal Festival Hall to the Isle of Dogs Band. Animateurs also have a broad knowledge of teaching techniques including Kodaly Musicianship and are in possession of current CRB checks.
